The Many Names Of The Sea Of Galilee

The Sea of Galilee has several names:

Sea of Galilee

“And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there.” (Matthew 15:29) (Mark 1:16)

“The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;” (Matthew 4:15)

Sea of Tiberias

“After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias.” (John 6:1 and 21:1)

Lake Gennesaret

“And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret.” (Luke 5:1)

Sea Of Chinnereth, Chinneroth

”And the coast shall go down from Shepham to Riblah, on the east side of Ain; and the border shall descend, and shall reach unto the side of the sea of Chinnereth eastward:” (Numbers 34:11)

“And from the plain to the sea of Chinneroth on the east, and unto the sea of the plain, even the salt sea on the east, the way to Bethjeshimoth; and from the south, under Ashdothpisgah:” (Joshua 12:3)

Lake Kinneret

Yeshua left there and went along the shore of Lake Kinneret. He climbed a hill and sat down;” (Matthew 15:29 CJB)

“Then the border goes down from Sh’fam to Rivlah, on the east side of ‘Ayin, then down until it hits the slope east of Lake Kinneret.” (Numbers 34:11CJB)

Where Is The Sea Of Galilee Located?

The Sea Of Galilee is what we call a lake in today's terms. It is a lake on the north end of the Jordan River in the area called Galilee.
