Humans must stay in motion according to their intended process of development in order to maintain the feel and rhythm of time and everything else in motion. When I see Esperanza Spalding, I see myself in her physicality, including her beautiful, power-receptive, power-reflective hair. Her music and spoken words emanate a deeper beauty also possible in me. It is available to all who allow themselves to just be – spirit motion. 1. Billboard.com Interview (6:01)
2. Conversation with Ngozi of Society HAE(11:36)
a) Interviewer: ...that's important for young people to know, you can struggle, but it doesn't negate you from [success]...
b) Esperanza: We're all smart and we all have the capacity to do incredible things. We're human beings. That's what's so special about being a person. You have the capacity to do almost anything you put your mind to. When you study something [in a school setting], it's not for the test. Tests are for your teacher to know you learned something. But the most important thing is that when you are on your own time learning about something, that's for you, that knowledge is for you, not for the teacher.
c) Esperanza: Like most people who have reached any level of success, it's many years of cultivating your craft. [She started at least by age 5]
3. Interview in the Bing Lounge, Kink.fm (7:37)
a) Since I don't exist alone, I'm not a floating free agent, all of these people and forces and music and bands and influences I'm connected with, at least the edges of them are getting illuminated too.
b) I'm happy to talk about accepting something I feel will be good for more than just me.
c) Children need to know they are cared for and they have the capacity to do great things. If children have to wait until they are adults to know and then try to go out and make something happen with money or influence, it's too late. [I know what she's means here and it is late and a crying shame but anyone can start right now]
d) For young people to be involved in the community and to be developing their creative, linguistic and mathematical minds, all these aspects of the human brain that are developed from studying music from the time they are little and at any age.
e) I couldn't understand it intellectually but intuitively, it gripped me.
