Doing Something Stupid Is Not The Same As Being Stupid

Stupid behavior has nothing to do with intellect. Stupid behavior has everything to do with false information in one or more areas of thinking and/or not enough true information. Stupid behavior can result from thinking guided by false information. Non-stupid behavior can result from thinking guided by true information. Both of these can exist simultaneously in the same person – good behavior and stupid behavior.

How To Deal With Feeling Stupid

If I've studied the three previous articles in this series but still feel stupid, due to past behavior, I need to go to the first article and start the process over.

I must take more of the actions suggested. Stupid behavior does not become who I am unless I do nothing to replace false information with true information. This is a lifelong process.

Instead of wasting precious natural resources wishing I could go back and change something, I must go forward and begin changing my thinking instead. I must work on the foundational things suggested.

Just Listen

Instead of listening to my mind only, I must listen to my spirit primarily. My spirit knows who I really am.

All it takes is free willingness to listen.

The first choice I make: to listen or not listen, makes all the difference between feeling stupid for the moment and being stupid forever.

Listening puts me in motion. Listening moves me closer to finding the knowledge I seek. Listening gives the energy of change, free reign and free range. This is the same spirit energy that creates universes. This energy is more than able to guide me through the motions of change.

Getting Over The False Hump

I must not allow false notions to stop me. Notions like, “change is easier said than done.” This is false.

If I am to change this time, as I have many times before, I must speak to change and step to change daily. Change needs daily affirmation in word and deed. Say it and do it, do it and say it... Use the power of the word and the power of motion.

I can draw upon my own experiences how I've changed in so many other ways. Now I remember. As it turns out, “change is just as easily done as said.” Damn false notions always trying to slip in and flip the script! With this perspective and my spirit guiding me, I will once again become more like my true self - change.

Change Is Who I Really Am Anyway

I will no longer be afraid of change. I am designed specifically for that purpose – to change. I was designed to grow, adjust, adapt and evolve. To be afraid of change is to be afraid of myself. The ability to change exists for my benefit. I will use it to reset my thinking and refresh the results of my behaviors.

Starting With Seeds Of Resources And Becoming A Positive Force That Directs Change

1. Change is a force without ability or allegiance that merely follows the intentions of the strongest current.
2. By itself, the passing of time cannot change anything, except age.

Based on those two statements:
(a) Change cannot happen on its own.
(b) Change doesn't favor good or bad.
(c) Change follows the strongest force.
(d) Time cannot change things.

In other words,

change only occurs when someone makes it happen.

Whatever change you seek or hope for, it doesn't matter what that change is. It matters what you put into motion.

Whatever time it is in the day or in life, it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter how long it might take. If you are aware change is needed, then right now is what matters.

Time and change are secondary to the forces you direct – your own motion. Change will follow your force. Time will assist you simply because time says, “Here I am. Use me while you have me! I have other appointments on the other side of right now. I may or may not come back your way.”

Neither time nor change will do anything for you until you take charge and be the force that directs them. Just remember, time waits for no one and change will follow anyone.

The Oldest Trick

Don't be tricked into waiting and being patient. Doing either of these things without doing other things will result in failure. Things will not change the way you want them to if you simply depend on time alone to create change. My country education taught me that wait broke the wagon down but that's about it.

It's okay to wait, but while you're waiting you must be working on what you're waiting for. Being patient is okay but you must also be persistently putting the pieces of your plan into place.

Before there can be visible change, there must be invisible change. This invisible change happens inside you. It happens in your thoughts, spirit, emotions and body. If you are not dedicated to self-education, you are waiting around for someone to bring you liberation.

The sooner you begin to loosen and readjust your personal settings, the sooner you will begin to change and the sooner things will begin to change. The more you adjust and the more you combine momentum from each developmental area, the faster you will change and the faster things will change. In other words, the substance of sight unseen leads to the evidence of realized dreams.

Change Is Who You Really Are

Don't be afraid of change. You were designed specifically for that purpose – to change. You were designed to grow, adjust, adapt and evolve. To be afraid of change is to be afraid of yourself. The ability to change exists for your benefit. Change is a sucker for what you love. This is true because whatever you put your resources into creates force and you will get good at it. Change will be right there with you every step of the way, whether you're using your resources the right way or wrong way.

Right Now!

Here's what determines your future: Resources applied right now - based on learning and yearning.

This means you can control and predict your future with greater accuracy simply by focusing on three things in life:
1. Directing the forces of your resources.
2. Choosing what and how much you learn.
3. Understanding the difference between what you need and what you want really bad.

Right now is the best time to be living - not because of the circumstances but because you were chosen for this time. Right now is the best time to be living because this time is the same as any other time - full of resources and possibilities. For you and me, right now is the only time.

I'll say it again! if you think change will come on its own, it won't. The only thing that will happen is, time will move forward and change will drift along with it, stuck in the same position it was in yesterday and the day before (time will change but change won't change). The quantity of time does not affect the quality of change. It is foolish to live thinking, hoping or praying it does.

There are a lot of individuals causing change to take on their identity. They are using their force to tug on the rope of change. Which side are you on - universal or unnatural? Change is that flag in the middle of the rope. Are you pulling it in your direction? It's not up to you to do it all but you're the only one who can do all you can. You're the only one who can do what you are intended to do.

Life is a sequence of events. As you steadily take steps forward, you will grow and, with that momentum, become the positive force that directs change for yourself and for others.

“What the hell?” That crazy fool gon' tear sumthin' up! Gon' rearrange the front end offa one a dem cars!
But that sucka made it and kep' on trucking.
Made me wonder what else is possible.
Made me realize you can't make u-turns with the hammer down.

Polepole, is a Kiswahili word meaning, slow or slowly. It is pronounced (po-LAY-po-LAY)

Some of us are hardly guilty of polepole. We are guilty of traveling too fast.

We allow life with all of its required components to set the pace. We allow house work, yard work, errands, holidays, people, jobs, churches, organizations, obligations and many other things to keep our foot on the go pedal.

That leaves little to no polepole time to take in life and look at our map to make sure we're on course.

Still, all is not lost even if we've traveled hundreds of miles out the way ending up in East Bumbleton somewhere at the wrong end of a fork feeling stuck.

It's time to get off the expressway of expectation. Life is amazing but this ain't the Amazing Race. Rest stops are for resting. We need plenty of spiritual rest stops along the way for replenishing, reassessment and recommitment.

Anyone making a U-turn always has the right of way so don't worry about rearranging someone else's life. Even if it's the children's. Start slowing down...turn here. I've seen far crazier and scarier things work out just fine. It's possible. Polepole......polepole.........polepole...............You can make it. Come on. You got it! Now keep on trucking, sucka'.

Life's Intersections & U-Turns

Sometimes paths cross, sometimes they align.

From baby steps, to footsteps, to leaps and bounds, to stumbling and falling down, we are always forging paths of our own. Even though we might share the same household, community, school, workplace, organization and sports team, these periods of time amount to pauses when compared to all other time spent throughout lifetimes.

These pauses are similar to those we encounter at intersections. We are at the same place at the same time for those series of seconds, but then the light changes and we move on.

In life, those seconds our lives intersect can just as easily be months or years, but then life changes and we continue forging our path. Always at intersections some join and pursue similar paths while others leave. Sometimes we change. This is the whole point of intersections.

Perhaps we're meeting for the first time or once again. Which way are we headed now? Perhaps in this pausing we will share something for the next portion of our journeys.

I actually saw an 18-wheeler make a U-turn in a standard-sized intersection. The analogy is clear. No matter how big (old) we are, no matter how much weight (bad decision baggage) we carry, no matter how difficult (not the perfect time) it may seem, no matter how crazy it may look (others would advise against it), it's possible to make a U-turn on any portion of our path once we realize we need to change directions, in relationships, finances, jobs, health, habits, dream pursuit...

Change Your Mind Sometimes

When an expectation is not met, something has to change. Change the entire expectation, change some variables, change yourself or change your mind.

Sometimes it's necessary to rethink our position and our actions despite how fervently we made them and how long we've held them or been doing them. The perfect example is God. The all-knowing reconsidered his position and his actions then changed his mind more than once.

God wanted to kill all the Hebrews except Moses. Moses beseeched God and God changed his mind and spared the Israelites. (Exodus 32:7-14)

After God told King Hezekiah he was about to die, King Hezekiah prayed and God allowed him to live 15 years longer. (Isaiah 38:1-6)

If God, the infallible, knows it makes good sense to have a change of mind sometimes, we'd better change our mind from time to time as well.

Changing our mind may be the best decision, no matter how long we've been in our jobs, relationships or held onto beliefs. Length of time doesn't necessarily make a decision right. There ain't no shame in anyone's game who's trying to change.

One of the greatest abilities we have is the ability to change our mind. It gives us the opportunity to remake, reorder, reinvent, recreate and reestablish our lives. Changing our mind sometimes changes everything.
