"Free and critical minds can emerge only by a return to the source-the primary sources. A free and critical mind takes nothing for granted and is not intimidated by "authorities" who frequently may be more confused than the general public. Free and critical minds seek truth without chauvinism or shame."-Asa G. Hilliard III

Quarterback Smarterback
Unity Consciousness #992

.

A continuation of “Abolish MVP, Hall Of Fame & Contradictions, Unity Consciousness #988”.

What quarterback has ever won a game without the defense also winning the game?
In any sport, we acknowledge a player's success also depends on the right system and supporting cast.
Yet some folks continue to elevate the quarterback position in American football to be the single most critical piece and no other position comes close.

I contend that a good team with an average quarterback will have more success than an average team with a good quarterback. It's basic math that tells us this. A good team has more players performing at high levels who can make up for some of the quarterback's deficiencies. On the other hand, if the quarterback is the best player, the quarterback cannot make up for the deficiencies of several players. Multiple examples are clear such as the great catch by a Patriot receiver at the end of the game in the last Superbowl. There are thousands of examples. In basketball, we see it clearly when players miss free throws. It changes everything.
We sometimes acknowledge a coach's success is dependent on his players.
It has been proven that Kareem, Erving, Kobe, Lebron, Olajuwon and Michael could not win championships without several other players and a whole bunch of moving parts, including bench players. Remove one piece and the whole thing wobbles, teeters, falters and often falls apart and short.
We acknowledge all teams must have a core group of players.
Yet, we want to anoint Tom Brady as the hands down best quarterback because he was the quarterback of multiple Superbowl winning New England Patriot teams.

Let's put Tom Brady on the Cleveland Browns and change nothing else and then see how great a quarterback he is.

Why hasn't Tom Brady won every Superbowl and every game? Is he the reason for their winning and not the reason for their losing?

Any person who pays attention to any team sport knows every play and every position matters on and off the field.
When it comes to quarterbacks, we all know, that if not for great receivers, there would be no great quarterbacks and no great teams. We all know that if not for some pass catches and dropped balls or a good block or missed block or good offensive, defensive or special teams coordinators, equipment managers, trainers or field goal kickers, that the entire game changes and so does the narrative of teams and so does the narrative of quarterbacks.
Quarterbacks are not an island, especially not Tom Brady. He is the beneficiary of being in the right place, right time when everything worked out right.

In regards to the success and failures and greatness of individuals compared to the team, Russell Westbrook is 100% correct.

Finally Say Farewell To A Fool
Make Adjustments To Reasoning
Unity Consciousness #662

.

The only way I can be a fool is to not understand (know) myself as I am. Understanding is a function of logic. When logic does not function properly, internal processes cannot return proper understanding of information to my senses. As a result, I become a fool because I am fooled by my own logic.
Failure Of Own Logic

OR

Faulty Operation Of Logic

OR

Fragmented Outcome Of Logic
Since thoughts are driven by logic, once logic fails to function in balance, behavior falls out of balance.

I use belief as my main basis for making decisions.

I begin to believe what is not known more than I believe what is known.

In a twist of faith, I also allow what I think I know to be an automatic reason for disbelieving what I think I don't know.

I Am Such A Fool

by Ancestors through Usiku

Even Mr. T doesn't pity me
Keep being told plain as day
“Hey! You're going the wrong freakin' way!”
I nod and keep going further out the way
Heeding not warnings, needing lots of praise
Logically thinking I'm getting to being okay
And that well, includes feeling the imbalance of hell
When logic fails, so does my ability to tell
I can only see the physical surface
Even so I feel nervous
Wondering about value of values, versus
Why it takes so much self-worth to purchase
Dreams and so many stuffin' things
Knowing nothing can pay for higher purpose
Or the process to understand where logic leads
Except the attention of a reforming fool
Getting better at knowing self

I am a fool if I think I must go through the experience of making the same mistake others have already made.
I do this because logic has failed.
I think because I am different and unique that the principles of life somehow make adjustments and allowances for me and don't apply to me in the same way and won't have the same fundamental effects.

Relationships are fooled when each person decides their own set of values and expects unity.
For example, what if hydrogen and oxygen, each had a different set of values? How much water would there be? How much nutrition/food/medicine would there be? (Food Fight #59).
I must not continue living a fool's life by thinking the relationship between any two things or among any three or more things is different than my relationship to any single thing or two or more things.
Mirror image metaphors tell me this is not true. Mama has told me the same thing since before the beginning, UC#1.
Thus, I am a fool if logic tells me my spirit, mind, emotion and body can each have a different set of values and still work together for their greater good and my greater good.
By restoring and repairing original information (data and instructions) of mirror image metaphors into my brain computer, my logic will process it and I will understand.

Even in a faulty fragmented condition, my logic, despite all the ways in which it has failed me, still has its foundation intact. This I understand because I understand a principle of natural law and order: what is out of balance can be brought back into balance.
If logic can fail (function out of balance), logic can also be brought back (repaired and restored) into balance. The process that damaged my logic produces failures and the reverse of that process simultaneously and automatically produces all the successes I need, thus allows me to logically fare well. By this process also, colors are in reverse and the last is becoming first. Health is being repaired and restored in the universe above and without and then to Earth below and within.

Thus, by extension, failure is a function of logic. Success is a function of logic. Both are determined by how my logic functions. Thus, failures and successes are functions of understandings.

Grading On A Curve: The Human Standard
Unity Consciousness #574

.

Who determines at what age someone can do something?
Who determines at what age someone cannot do something?
From birth to death, who's to say?

Who's to say and determine when a child should be talking, walking, dressing themselves, and so on?
How can anyone say, with a fixed certainty, the age at which a child should stop doing certain things.

What we should know by now is not only do these things vary in general, but they vary specifically and they vary per person.
These variations are caused by multiple factors. As a result, each situation must be assessed on its own merits.
Yes, we can use generalities as a starting point but that's all they should be.
If someone does or doesn't do something before or after a general guideline or milestone, so what? No need to panic or count it as negative or make it into an anomaly. If fact, for most of us who do or don't do things that match the generalities, that is the anomaly.
When we are grading anything, our thought process (evaluation and analysis) must ask, “What are the circumstances as it relates to that area?”

Once we stop grading things and ourselves based on each other and start grading things and ourselves based on what we are truly capable of, at that point, we will be making progress.

We will stop saying all manner of things such as “she is wise beyond her years,” or “this gender can't do that,” or “he's an old soul,” or you're too young or too old for something.”

We already know it's normal and natural for certain skills to be acquired at different ages for different people.

The human standard is okay as a starting point but in no way should the human standard be considered the beginning or origin or foundation of what humans are capable of.

Humans must reach to what is higher within self, which is the higher universal standard.

Our universal genetics are the baseline for what we are capable. Our genetics manifest themselves differently due to a variety of factors.

The test for humans in this life comes from the Creator. We must prepare with that in mind and grade ourselves accordingly, on the Cosmic Curve or Creator's Curve, so to speak. This is the same curve Dr. King spoke about. It is the curving arc that bends towards justice. How do we score on this curve? How do we rate ourselves? It is clear some on the curve are heading one way towards justice and far too many in societies are heading the opposite way.

Winning & Losing The Worst & Best Way
Self-Improvement & Weight Loss
Unity Consciousness #573

.

Far too often, athletes say the only thing important is winning and winning it all.
This goes against the importance of sportsmanship, playing by the rules and the whole bunch of life lessons gained through practice, training, preparation and adjusting. Self-improvement is supposed to be the main purpose of sports, not winning and not, not losing.

To put winning and losing above self-improvement is to win and lose in the worst way. To think of winning and losing in such limited terms is to place a gigantic weight upon self to perform and accomplish something that is not able to be 100% controlled by an individual or a collective in any sport or life endeavor.

Again and again we must remind ourselves in life and in sports that self-improvement is the most important thing - more important than winning or losing.
Winning is a byproduct of self-improvement. Winning is the automatic result of continuous self-improvement. Winning cannot be achieved directly. Winning most be achieved through process.
Despite self-improvement, losing, in sports, can still occur. Even so, an athlete or team that loses, despite self-improvement, still wins. An athlete or team that loses sight of self-improvement as the ultimate prize, loses and wins in the worst way. The same is true in life.

Self-improvement is the greater good. This must be properly understood.

As long as we are self-improving, we are winning. When we stop self-improving for too long, we start losing.

Even though someone must lose and someone must win in sports, all competitors can always win as long as the life lessons that lead to self-improvement are always the greater portion of the experience.

By the way, this also applies to many other things in life such as losing weight. If we believe losing weight is winning and not losing weight is losing, then we completely miss the point and purpose of the need incentive and the process. We somehow believe we can achieve what we want or need for self, thus improve self, without self-improvement. We somehow believe that meeting a goal or need comes first and results in self-improvement when it is the other way around. We don't focus enough on the need incentive of being healthy overall and we don't break down the goal enough to affect our weight in the way we want to. We focus on the goal of weight loss or looking good, rather than spreading our focus also to improving the mental, emotional, spiritual and to increased understandings of the physical and nutrients and nutritions. Weight is linked to, and caused and affected by, all these things – tangibles and intangibles. In other words, if we want to make our bodies better, we must also make our minds, emotions and spirits better by getting to know all four of these areas better. All must be improved. Self-improvement is an overall concept that always includes the entire self. Self-improvement helps us become healthier so that no matter the sport or goal in life, we begin to develop increased awareness that the need incentive to win or to be the best or number one or champion is actually the need incentive to improve self through improving understanding of the four inseparable aspects of self. This is the best way to lose the weight of the worldview that is interfering with our health, thus peace, within and on Earth.

If we focus on winning and losing in relation to what others do and in relation to other competitors or in relation to others who are pursing similar goals, then it is possible to “win” without being at our best and possible to “lose” while being at our best. Under this ill-advised approach and suboptimal context, what we are doing is grading ourselves on a curve based on how well others are performing, which is the same as “living outside of self” because the dominant consideration for self-esteem (which is what winning and losing relates to) is defined by what others do rather than on what we know and do. In fact, this is exactly what Europeans and others are doing who feel it is necessary for the African and others to look bad in order for them to look good. They do so because they are unwilling to put in the work necessary to be better in relation to the higher universal nature. This is what happens when the human standard is our standard rather than the standard of our Creator, our Oldest Ancestor and Oldest Parent. The best we can be has everything to do with the higher spiritual nature of the universe. Aspire to that.

Our topmost comparison must be to the self we are continuously getting to know as it relates to the Creator's intentions (destinies) for us. Thus, if we are getting to know ourselves better and doing better because we know better, we are winners.

Unity Consciousness #4 | Values Cause Failure Or Success

Before we seek to understand how values cause failure or success, we must look at where values come from.

Values Come Out Of Philosophy

This is expected since we've already learned Maat is a philosophy and Maat is where the African value system comes from.

According to Obenga, “Human beings always need to discern what is real, true, right, or lasting. Such insight is wisdom, because understanding what is true, right, or lasting necessarily elevates the mind. To philosophize was not just to speculate about life and reflect on nature, but also to be engaged with love, intense desire, and strong enthusiasm in the investigation of causes underlying reality in order to build up a system of values by which society may live.” (1)

This tells us, the only way to create a value system not respectful of creation is to have a philosophy that hates, has intense disgust and strong enthusiasm against the laws and orders of nature. This type of philosophy can only be developed through unscientific means.

Choose A Value System, Choose To Fail Or Succeed

A value system strengthens through respect. It connects people to an interdependency on resources the Creator has provided and to an interdependency on each other. Those who share this type of value system do not go outside themselves for what is necessary to maintain the value system.

Per Ancestor & Master Teacher Yosef ben-Jochannan, “The reason we are failing is because we have taken European values.”

He goes on to remind us, successes come “when the African man, woman or child, approach whatever they are doing from an African perspective.”

It should now be clear to every African, Maat is the way out of this mess. If this is not yet clear, as always, we must seek additional understanding. One way is by studying to show ourselves approved.

Refocusing Responsibility

Values cause failure or success. People choose values from their philosophy. People create philosophy from their understanding of reality, that is to say, what they either believe or know is true. Even after we account for all mitigating factors, people are still responsible for their failure or success.

Africans must examine who the philosophers are their values are coming from. If we don't know or don't want to try to figure it out, one thing we do know is our value system is not working out.

It's much easier to reset our value system to the African philosophy of Maat. We have to reset and reformat our computers sometimes, and having no other choice, it always ends up being worth it. We must do the same and reconfigure our lives, unless someone can provide a better option.

Related Proverbs:

Follow no one's advice or their ways, holidays, traditions, religions, educational teachings, social behavior, family dynamics and relationship ideas unless you also follow the philosophy of their value system.

Day 5: Choosing To Succeed Or Fail

10 Days Of Upheaval & Fulfillment

The spirit doesn't live in the center of the chest. The spirit is in every cell just as oxygen, water and protein. Each of these living elements contribute to health and success. Each cell also contains spiritual genetics inherited from parents and ancestors plus each cell has a mind and memory of its own. All these things: cells, bodies, minds, thoughts, memories and spirits all need the energy and nutrition we can only get by eating food.

Physical Food

One way to feed all these parts at once is by eating physical food. Physical food (solid and liquid-water) also includes the amount of rest we get, the air we breathe and sunlight. Simply making better and better choices on what we allow into our bodies helps the trillions of cells in our bodies become stronger. This will also improve our minds by helping our brains function better. What we are trying to accomplish will become easier simply because we are functioning better. This will also help our spirits because the spirit, just like anything else, cannot thrive where there is disease or it is not being fed.

Mental Food

Another way to feed body, mind and spirit at the same time is by eating mental food. Mental food comes from our thoughts, introspection, reflection, what we read, what we watch, what we listen to, who we talk to, what we talk about, what we study, what we are taught, what we practice, what we investigate, what we analyze, critical thinking and more. Mental nutrition improves the mind (mental health) and also helps the body and the spirit.

Spiritual Food

Spiritual food is another way to get nutrition. Some of the ways to get spiritual food have been listed on Day 3: Spiritual Nutrition Makes A Difference. We can also get spiritual nutrition from work, relationships of all types and from quietness and stillness. Spiritual food is the most abundant natural resource. The only limit to receiving spiritual nutrition is the degree to which we commune with natural things. When the spirit is receiving food, the body and the mind are also benefiting.

Choosing Success Or Failure

The only way to succeed or fail three ways at the same time is when we choose what to eat. When we are younger, we don't have a choice, but each day we get older the choice in all areas becomes more and more something we control. When will we make the necessary adjustments to what we control? Everyone has choices, even those in prison and in other limiting situations.

Success or failure does not depend on money. Money is a temporary placeholder for the value of natural resources. Success or failure depends on how well we use available resources. That depends on choices. Choosing to eat more food is a resource available to everyone.

Just to be clear, every time we eat something physically, mentally or spiritually, we are choosing to succeed or fail.
