Past, Beach & Fruiture | Poem
Unity Consciousness #447

.

Past, Beach & Fruiture

by Ancestors through Usiku

Tides are relentless
Beckoning with magnetic sway
That which hopes to stay
If unanchored, is washed away

The year my mother got sick
She lost her job and I died
I was sixteen
The restaurant was only half-ready
We opened it anyway
Unfinished undiminished
Along with workers-in-progress
Who feared my ignorance
And my budding intolerance for nonsense

We made many mistakes of understanding
I took what was daily bred
Leavened it with what mama said
Life is a combine of all things divine
Right now is what's behind and ahead
Use the balance of Maat to respect what you got
Primordial orders obey
Throughout nature, despite hardships
Somehow, somewhere
Fruit ripens anyway

We worked on the store and ourselves
Tolerance for purpose was priceless
Self-improving our toughness
We went from endings and beginnings
To continuing

With a perspective focused and angled wide
Adapting kept us occupied
We all recovered from through each other
Just like everywhere else
Where four cornerstones meet
Fruit is drawn towards its peak
Then released
Full of the magnetic
In search of another beach

How To Deal With Stupid Behaving People

For proper context and meaning, review the series of articles beginning with, ”Expanded Definition | Stupid Behavior”

Reviewing The Levels of Stupid Behavior

1. Stupid behavior.
2. Stupidity.
3. Stupidity in attack mode.

How To Deal With Stupid Behaving People

1. Avoid them if they do not acknowledge, change and clean up after behavior is pointed out. If you love the person, try to help them get nutrition. Nutrition saves.

2. Minimize contact - If you can't avoid them completely, deal with them when you have to and then forget about them. Brainstorm ways how you won't have to deal with them at all. Put an escape plan into action. Dig your way out of their tunnel sickness.

3. Deal with yourself - Focus on things you can control. Helping yourself is the best way to get back at stupid behaving people. Since they are stuck on stupid, any improvement you make will put a greater distance between you and them.

4. Study stupidity – Analyze why the person behaves that way and avoid the same mistakes.

Whatever you do, don't change to their way of thinking and behaving. Get growing in knowledge of self. Directing resources towards personal growth will put you out of the reach of stupid people.

Key Definitions | What Is Science? Who Are Scientists?

What Is Science?

The study of natural worlds, nature and the neters. All three are the same thing.

The neters are aspects (personalities) of the Creator that represent different parts of nature. The Creator is so immense it is impossible to know and understand the Creator just from a whole perspective. The neter aspects allow understanding in parts that are then synthesized into an understanding of the whole. Neter (nTr) is the basis for the word nature.

All parts of creation have different, yet inseparable, aspects. Humans have aspects such as mind, body, soul and spirit. Plants also have aspects, as do animals, water, fire, rocks, etc. We sometimes refer to these aspects as qualities, characteristics, traits, sides, facets, displays, manifestations and attributes. Once we use the key – as above, so below - truth is unlocked. We can extend this to the Creator because it is verified throughout nature.

Therefore, ultimately, science is the study of the Creator. How can this be? That's not what I've been taught. Of course not. Here's how. Nothing exists outside the Creator. All things were created by the Creator. All things come from the imagination of the Creator into the manifestations we see, sense, feel and experience. Everything we study inside this universe is the same as studying the Creator.

Another Aspect Of The Definition

Science is learning how natural worlds and ecosystems work. Science is used to learn how to live optimally within natural systems, i.e., harmoniously.

Science recognizes humans and nature are the same and inseparable. Guided by this integrated perspective, science seeks knowledge of self through knowledge of all else. Science studies human nature by not only studying human nature, but also Earth's nature and the Universe's nature. Earth and Universe are studied in the same way. All things must be studied in relation to something else, since, in order to obtain meaning, learning requires context to serve as a point of reference and comparison.

The study of science is always part of a unified system of study. This is necessary due to the Law of Harmony and ecosystems. Since life requires coexistence, symbiosis and synthesis, the understanding of life must come through the synthesis of all the sciences. Science must be open-minded.

Science is part of divine thought transferred to human beings. One purpose is to provide civilization-building and civilization-sustaining knowledge. Even so, the possession and use of scientific knowledge alone does not produce civilization. This is evident today. Scientific knowledge must be used under the guidance of knowledge of self to ensure the harmony of natural systems are not disturbed.

Through science we acquire knowledge of self. As we do, we recognize ourselves in the Universe. We also recognize our purposes and responsibilities to the Universe. This is not fluffy spiritual theory. The evils today stem from unresolved disturbances to the Universal ecosystem. Our behaviors make it better or worse. Knowledge of self that comes through the study of nature, allows us to direct our behaviors and resources in every day practical ways so we can do what we were sent here to do - heal the world and make it a better place like MJ said.

This is also the Creator's plan for us. We must commune with, study and respect the natural world in order to obtain the equality, balance, wholeness, contentment, harmony, justice, peace, health, fulfillment, Hapi-ness, love and unity we seek within ourselves and in the world. This is the entire Law and highest scientific principle.

Science is a tool.

Additional Aspects

Science is seen spirituality and spirituality is unseen science. per Brother Kamene.

Per Sister Ani: "Science is the organization of knowledge sacredly based and the application of knowledge that has been collectively acquired. It is systematic and useful. It is the synthesis of cosmic awareness. This leads to an intuitive grasp of the empirical, phenomena and the universal whole."

"Science is the science of spirit. Spirit and matter are joined. Spirit is energy, consistent and eternal. Matter is the form that energy takes and its physical form changes. Matter is the manifestation of spirit."

Modern Science Is Not Science For Many Reasons

1. Science has ancient origins and fullness in Africa, not in Greece.
2. Modern science ignores the definitions and approaches above.
3. Modern science studies nature to figure out how to overpower it and exploit it.
4. Each scientific discipline is undisciplined, therefore unscientific, since it does not integrate knowledge from all other sciences.
5. Modern science is closed-minded. It manipulates and hides evidence.
6. Modern science is used mostly as a weapon and money maker.
7. Modern science practices anti-God behavior.
8. Modern scientists tell bald-faced lies right to the Creator's face.

Where Are The Scientists?

Every human being's responsibility is to be a scientist. A scientist is anyone who observes and studies nature as part of the inseparable process of learning knowledge of self. All of us are supposed to be in pursuit of knowledge of self because that's what a human being means.

Science is part of the intimate relationship we are supposed to have with the natural world in order to develop self-awareness, thus self-esteem.

The Scientists Are Not Where They Do Not Maat

Per Sister Marimba Ani, "the process of learning is most important. The way we learn [processes and methods] affects us deeply. Learning has no meaning without a context for meaning. That context is knowledge of self. It is dangerous to learn anything without simultaneously learning knowledge of self." [This means learning not understood in relation to self has no foundation and no bearing and thus can attach us to anything. This out of context learning can put us on any type of course. It can absolutely be used against us with our full compliance and eagerness. This is evident by looking at just one example. We pay money to get learning yet have no idea how it affects who we really are. Most of it hurts like hell.]

"In modern scientific practices, a person can become a scientist and be a moral idiot. [There is no integrated study of self and thus, no moral bearing or sense of responsibility to the natural systems and components being studied. Also, they are studying the Creator and don't know it. Plus they don't know all the aspects of nature are aspects of the Creator and when you mess with plants, for example, you mess with God. The Universe is going to put the hurt back on you.]

Just Wondering

Isn't scientific peer-review a vacuum loop in an air-tight room?

The ill-formed information that comes out of this room is deemed credible for human consumption simply because it's edible, i.e., suitable for the gullible. In reality, it is as stifling as the environment it comes from. Thus, when what we need are things sun-cooked and freshly bred, we get things half-baked and polluted instead.

Wonder why it's a struggle to just survive? Growth and development is kept at the minimal level of focusing on surviving when information from unscientific “scientists” is what we consume in all areas of life to nourish the thinking that directs our behaviors?

Essay & Comparisons | Television & Telepathy

Comparison To Telepathy

TV is Telepathic Vision.* Television can send someone else's vision to our minds telepathically. The actual physical television set is just the way the information is received into our homes. Most of what is sent via television is in the subtext. It gets into us subconsciously. Television puts someone else's thoughts, ideas, viewpoints and opinions into our heads whether we're willing to admit it or not.

The Subconscious Barrier

It is a certainty, many of us who are being programmed subconsciously will adamantly deny this is happening. In other words, for some of us, it is easier to be programmed subconsciously than to consciously step outside of that programming. Our thinking is being controlled from behind the subconscious barrier.

Vision versus Vision

Whoever creates something has a vision for what is created. When what is created does not follow the vision of who creates it, only problems can ensue for the creator. This is what happens when we, who are created by the Creator, allow the telepathic vision of others to supersede the Creator's vision regarding ourselves and other beings, therefore interrelatedness, and thus, also life and existence.

Television Content

What is television content? Content is any image or sound during any second the television is on. This includes all programs, commercials, infomercials, news, public service messages, game shows, award shows, talk shows, dating/relationship shows, talent contests, shopping channels, home channels, creative channels, sports, nature shows, parades, cartoons and anything that shows up on the screen or comes through the speakers.

Content is not only what is shown and heard but also what is not shown and heard. This will be addressed in detail in a future essay. Content includes all details, shapes, sizes, colors, sensory information, words, gestures, representations, props, backgrounds and settings.

As long as we naively expose ourselves to these images and sounds, our minds will be susceptible, gullible and misdirected away from the discovery of our true spiritual paths.

*The source of the phrase,”Telepathic Vision” is unknown.

Poem | I Need A New Television

I Need A New Television

by Usiku

No matter how I change the settings
I keep getting what I’m getting
Mental fillers in stereo
Netting me less than zero
In my personal growth
The thing I need to watch most

What's good fundamentally
Is unnoticeably absent from TV
My misfortune is my good reception
That contributes to my poor perception
When it comes to what's on screen
Nothing is as normal as it seems

I linger until critical thoughts are numb
Can't figure out who I've become
Or how I sprained my channel thumb

Freedom | Growing With Discipline

Who expects a one-year-old to know more than a five-year-old, a 10-year-old to learnderstand as much as an 18-year-old or a 20-year-old to have accomplished as much as a 40-year-old?

The older we get, the more the momentum of growing should propel us to higher awareness of self and more complete usage of capabilities. This positive correlation frequently turns negative, right around the time we begin to think we're grown.

For the first 18-22 years, most of us move away from parental support towards independence; but once we crossover into adulthood years, we move towards dependence on societal systems rather than personal resources.

The mis-education we've been receiving all along finally gathers its own steam and does what it is intended to do - put us on a course of diminishing returns rather than expanding possibilities.

One morning, I was given the ability to vote, buy alcohol and make all my own decisions. A variety pack of rights was handed to me just because I was a few hours older. I went to sleep with limitations and woke up without boundaries. In those eighteenth-birthday moments, I felt superhuman. I could now construct my life the way I wanted. I also felt relief for having survived the wait. Then came a rush of excitement from realizing I had full-grown rights without the pressure to hurry up and be fully grown. I was an independent dependent.

Many early decisions were restless rebellions against the discipline imposed on youthfulness by parents, teachers, society and broke-itis. I was going to rectify all of this in just 4 years compared to the previous 18 that still left me wanting. I rushed ninety mountain miles away to discover a new world of out of sight freedom at college. I graduated, found work, earned more debt, paid bills, made babies and wasted “my” money. I proved I could make it on my own, do whatever I chose, whenever I chose and in any crazy way I chose. Still without the proper initiation into adulthood, trials by wildfire ensued.

The basic wisdom of “a hard head makes a soft butt,” didn't register until well after my behind was fully tenderized. In between the mostly avoidable bumps and bruises, the same lesson kept repeating. Once I began listening, especially to my spirit, maturity also began. I realized I wasn't grown-up at all because I did not welcome the discipline required to make my own decisions. The lesson then became clear. Discipline is freedom. Freedom is never free because it comes with responsibility. I somehow missed this point the first several times through the fire.

I began to embrace discipline in my quest to become better. I decided to accept responsibility for my fear. That one decision has been more powerful than feeling superhuman. It unlocked the cell of concern containing what other people think and do. I began to study. I stopped focusing on earning a living and started focusing on returning to living. I reconnected with the natural world I descended through. So much more is now possible.

There is richness in an appreciation for life and its privileged responsibilities. If I'm going to contribute what I was born to contribute, I will always need discipline. Once again I'm using the same resources I've always had but pushed aside on my way out the door. I'm finally growing freely.

Day 9: Harmony Is Energy Conservation

10 Days Of Upheaval & Fulfillment

“Try to become something that you're not and lose the essence of who you are.”
- - Dumb Donald (Fat Albert, the movie)

Energy is an essence of life. When something runs counter to the spirit, we feel physically, mentally and spiritually drained. It literally sucks the life out of us. This happens frequently when we are out of our element. We are out of sync as the compound element of spirit, body and mind when these three are not simultaneously in the place they should be.

For many, work is a culprit that depletes energy on all levels. “All the labour of man is for his mouth, and yet the appetite is not filled.”* Work that is in keeping with the spirit is an energizing feedback loop.

Another culprit that saps energy is an incompatible relationship. This can be with a family member or someone who really is not a friend. The basic problem is one or both people are not in a proper relationship with themselves. As a result, trying to be in sync is subject to many difficulties. These experiences, especially with grown folks, are draining.

A third energy trap is when we meet someone, become “romantic,” and often become family members. Sometimes, rather than putting efforts towards personal growth, a lot of energy is put into a romantic relationship with expectations that go beyond what any grown up relationship is able to provide. Romantic love is not a substitute for personal growth. It is not a source of security or a guarantor of love & happiness.

We can stop wasting energy by focusing on our personal trinity and feeding them accordingly. Mind, body and soul will help us become our next best friend. We will be able to transcend man, woman, self-sabotage and anything that is human-defined and human-confined. We will live in the world and the universe. We will begin to have spirited conversations revealing possibilities beyond ourselves and beyond the human species. We will honor our responsibility to the universal ecosystem - the resonating connection our spirit being wants to be in tune with.

Human animals will never attempt divine things unless the divine is nurtured within them. The only example of harmony we have that blends massive amounts of diversity is the Divine Order. If we are ever going to achieve harmony, this is the blueprint. The universal ecosystem is the trueprint for success. Anything that runs counter to this is wasteful.

Nothing becomes high just by simply holding it high. We must stop talking about global this and that while performing nationhood atrocities all over the map. We must abandon lipservice to the Golden Rule while those with the most gold, rule or those who deem themselves golden, rule. We must stop reciting parables if we're not going to learn the lessons. We must stop trusting our Deities will change things for us while we remain the same. We must stop fighting for specific rights by ones and somes and not for inherent rights of everyone, including little ones, elderly ones, sick ones, stumbling ones, veteran ones, disabled ones, natural disaster ones, systemically disenfranchised ones and those under institutional attack.

Once we begin using nutrition as the solution, our essence, which is energy in harmony, will be much easier to achieve and cheaper because we won't be wasting energy.

Mental Preparation & The Basics Of Performance

Food Fight #43

Of course an athlete must eat properly. The body gets the most out of training and performing when getting nutrition, avoiding toxins and getting enough rest. Any athlete seeking improvement and excellence has this mindset. A dedicated athlete also understands performance is aided by the mind; therefore, an athlete serious about getting better also becomes a student of the game. An athlete serious about becoming their very best also becomes a student of personal growth. These are the basics.

For athletes and non-athletes, a mind consistently nourished, rested and trained for improvement, provides the best assistance to reach goals. Why? The road to goals is paved with decisions. Decisions made without the basics that support being the best are less likely to be decisions that are the best. A well-fed mind is also better able to manage stresses and moderate other emotions.

A disciplined approach that incorporates mental preparation, separates more athletes than physical training alone. The same is true when seeking to improve, reach or maintain health goals.

Watching athletics and appreciating performance is one thing. Knowing performance can be improved in any pursuit by following the same basics, is a healthy thing.

Natural Hair Poem, Untwisting Perceptions

To: Natural, My Love

by Usiku

Natural, My Love
When you embrace your hair
It’s like, you’re with child
Blossoming enhances your smile
You bring to life, fresh air
Your twists, locks, braids and afro stuffs
Add elegance to any room
As glorious as the peacock’s plume
Always the exquisite touch

Natural, My Love
My destiny, your legacy
Mesmerizes like Victoria Falls
As primal spirits call
You captivate and satiate
Texture, length, color, magnificence
Imbued with strength Afrika made
Varied with styles imagination laid
Accept your roots and essence

Awaken, let it happen
You are your own dimension
Wear your natural crown
Shades of black and brown
Without their pretensions
Your natural chemistry
Is appreciation and pride
Sustenance is in your strands
Unquestionable, professional

Good hair is
Natural, My Love
Don’t lye to yourself
Natural, not kinky or nappy
Let Kujichagulia grace your brow
Like Ethiopia, then and now
Natural, you are becoming
Yourself
Rhythm
So beautiful
So free
(I just nod my head)

Natural Hair Reflections

I love having conversations with people who've grown up in different cultures, especially outside of America. One such woman from Jordan told me what struck her most about America. “The obesity of the people and the hair styles of African [Black] women.”

All women can keep their hair long or short or straight or curly or in a pony tail. Yet, more variance comes with African hair. The texture lends itself to creativity. So much so, it stands out as a significant cultural difference. The texture of African hair is a gift. It is in the image and the texture of creation that can take on many forms and be shaped and re-shaped according to whatever you imagine.

Nappy hair is 'divine' - The choice of God!

Home Ownership, First-time Buyers, HUD/FHA

”HUD” is the acronym for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. There may be similar departments and programs in other countries.

Anyone 18 years or older who has not purchased a house in their name should consider looking into HUD-owned property. This does not necessarily mean the house is of lower quality, it only means that HUD owned the mortgage and now owns the home.

Many of the homes will need some work just like any other home when it is purchased.

Visit these websites and/or call HUD to find out how you can qualify.

Do not assume that you do not qualify, even if working for minimum wage and/or getting food assistance. Call HUD.

You do not have to buy a home from the HUD Home Store website. Also, you do not have to buy a HUD home. If you qualify for assistance, your choices are greater. Investigate and ask.

A husband or a wife might be able to qualify by themselves if they are not on a mortgage.  Ask.

36 Facts About Manipulators & Manipulation

Along your path, you will encounter potholes and sink holes planted by manipulators. Manipulation may come from an individual, group, company, institution or government. Regardless, the facts remain the same.

1. A manipulator presents information as “helpful” or “something you need” that does not have any chance of moving you along any pathway to be as the Creator intended.

2. Wants you to believe frequent repetition by humans means something must be true.

3. Does not want you to investigate or consider other points of view.

4. Tries to get you to have an instant negative reaction to ideas different from what you already believe so you'll quickly disregard.

5. Tries to keep you dependent on them for as long as possible.

6. Tries to keep you busy so you don't have time to stay in tune with your spirit.

7. Does not want you to become aware your spirit's intuition is the best expert.

8. Promotes feeling good over being good.

9. Provides constant amounts of distracting information.

10. Wants you to desire simply knowing stuff about other people's lives.

11. A manipulator does not help you focus on what you can learn to help yourself from other people's successes and failures.

12. Wants you to make decisions based on man's legal system rather than Higher Powers and the basics of natural law.

13. The information offered does not help you to become healthy in any way.

14. Wants you to prefer the safety of what you've always believed rather than the determination to transition towards your better self. (See #8, “safety sure feels good”)

15. Treats critical thinking and analyzing as negative behaviors.

16. A manipulator benefits much more from their supposed assistance to you than you do.

17. Takes advantage of you when you give them your trust.

18. Tries to destroy whoever tries to tell the truth. This is a diversionary tactic. No one who is telling the truth has to use character assassination as their main defense.

19. Uses sympathy, tears and emotions. They are always the victim.

20. Never takes responsibility.

21. Wants you to prefer frequent entertainment rather than pursue ongoing maturity.

22. A manipulator needs you to believe their words more than their actions.

23. Needs you to believe they are the best thing coming and going so their philosophies become your automatic point of reference and only possibility.

24. Depends on your sympathy and feeling of kinship. (If you do not put your emotional self first, their motives can be more easily seen.)(Love and fear are emotions.)

25. Wants you to reach a conclusion based on their information and perspective only.

26. Tries to keep you tired so you don't feel like thinking.

27. The goal is not your independence.

28. Wants you to choose their choices rather than believe you can come to your own conclusions.

29. Wants you to be head-centered rather than spirit-centered.

30. Wants you to separate church from: state, education, science, medicine, work and society. Blessings will not show up in any place God is not allowed.

31. Wants you to “think to make decisions” rather than “sense the spirit's guidance.”

32. Needs you to be limited and stay limited in order to like you or accept you.

33. Does not add to or appreciate you strengthening your knowledge of self.

34. Creates confusion and claims something is controversial to keep you right where you are.

35. Wants you to believe it's not important to learn accurate human history. "The past is not important" comes from the mouth of a fool, a manipulator or both.

36. Wants you to accept what supports the group/country overall but does not support the individual at all.

Update:
37. Uses words that are opposite, "I respect what you're saying but you're an idiot." or "I agree with you but you're crazy." This manipulative spirit will begin and end statements with nice words and in between there is the true intent aimed to harm. It's like making a sandwich out of a rock. The main part of the message is intended to cause unsuspecting damage even though it looks and sounds good on both ends. There is always an opening and closing nicety. Especially the closing nicety that wishes you well after knowing they've just caused you to break a tooth or two.

38. Use children and the elderly as weapons and tools. They take advantage of the naivete, innocence and trust of children and the elderly. Manipulations often use children as bait to manipulate the elderly.

39. Manipulators will always say they care but nothing they do shows they care. Manipulators are always seeking, looking for and are constantly on “fishing trips” to find information they can use against anyone. This is their focus – destructive thinking, destructive behavior.

40. Will give you a penny's worth of value while they take 99 cents. They always take far more than they give so do not be fooled by their giving, watch what they are taking.

41. One of the main problems with evil manipulation is that it affects logic which contributes to the problem of genderism, racism and other evil discriminations against the Rights of Creation.

All these facts boil down to one thing: Manipulators manipulate with lies. The lies are simplistic, not complicated. Those lies are usually the opposite of what is true.

Yet and still, manipulation is no match for the intuitive self, the spirit. Step back from what someone is telling you and stay open to the initial sense you are getting. Is the information trustworthy or not?

Try to keep your brain and emotions from getting in the way. Ask your spiritual self, “Why am I being told this information?” These few steps can help you discern the difference between information that seems right and information that is right.

The journey continues. Now as you encounter those potholes and sinkholes filled with muddy water, you won't mistake them for pools and lakes.

Inner Child, My Prisoner

The young believe in possibilities; the old, inevitables.

A child's capacity for learning expands with learning. Observing, exploring and experimenting are delightful.

A child moves easily past dismay because there is no ego in the way. Memory is reserved for new things, forward things, bettering things. In this un-adult-erated state, a child travels the path of infinite possibilities.

Slowly I agreed to the education of conformity. My inner child wouldn't cooperate so I placed it in a prison of my perspective. A perspective that lost sight of me.

I wobbled plenty yet I walk. I've wandered plenty but am finding my way back to free.

Stocks Fall, Self-Esteem Fell

Before the downgrade of the US credit rating was announced Representative Barney Frank, said ...I’m just puzzled that people pay attention.

Well Barney, there's no reason to be puzzled. People pay attention for the same reason they pay attention to the claims and counterclaims of politicians.

The public has a malleable mind that can be shaped by a whisper, shout or suggestion. The difference is how quickly a reaction is needed. The mind of the people has been trained to trust sources who portray themselves as thorough, and objective and knowledgeable. The main culprits are popular media, politicians at every level, Wall Streeters and business bigwigs.

If we are to ever experience significant personal growth we must acknowledge the nature of this multi-headed beast.

All the tongues from Washington to Wall Street are permanently forked and tangled together so the sounds they make are like the ones we made as kids when we held our tongues and tried to talk.

We don't have to give meaning to this gobbledygook. Just let 'em keep talking and telling lies. We should mostly do nothing or the opposite.

We don't have to allow media to instigate us to make ill-advised choices. Let them work each other into frenzies. Do not allow this Medusa-like creature to turn you hardheaded in the wrong direction.
BTW: Why do all these news sources all talk about the same things each day in the same way if they are “independent and objective?”

Barney, be not confused as to why people are freaked out and stocks are falling. We are doing as we've been trained and educated. We turn to you to tell us the important things. We need you to explain what we've heard. We need you to help us focus on information that we hope will help us make the best decisions for ourselves and be the best we can be.

You need us too. You need us to keep trusting you and believing we need you. You need us to wait to be told what's going on. You need us to doubt and diss-believe anything you don't say. You need us to lack confidence in our ability to be the discerners that is supposed to come with the developing cognitive ability of adulthood. You need us to trade the fullness of our capabilities and purposes for a life of gobbledygook.

Even though most of your information is either late or of no consequence to us, we continue to stay in a relationship with you believing we can't make it without you, just like those with no or low self-esteem. This has a lot to do with why, the wealthiest one percent has more wealth than the bottom 90 percent combined. All information, no evolution. Stocks are falling now because self-esteem fell long ago.

People, take this into consideration: When stocks fall, someone is shaking us like trees trying to shake them loose from our hands. Someone is also either catching the stocks or picking them up. There are no stocks left lying around on the ground because in order for someone to sell a stock, someone else has to buy it.

In other words, every time you hear there is a sell off in stocks, there is also an equal buy in. The difference is, one side is shaken and scared while the other is certain and salivating. One is panicked, the other prepared. The rich get richer when we simply listen to the news they own because information is more valuable than stocks.

Empathic Civilisation

At its core, this blog is about opening awareness - not by choice but by charge. As a result, it pushes boundaries in content and creativity. Awareness is essential to improvement in any fashion. It is essential to changing your circumstances. The blog and author of, CRPS/RSD A Better Life aids graciously in my personal quest.

After listening to an invigorating perspective in the video, Empathic Civilisation, it released these thoughts:

It contains a very powerful message indeed! It takes our thinking back to a foundational level which is absolutely what is necessary so we can stop kidding ourselves. I love the notion of empathizing with fellow creatures and the environment and that to be able to do so is a hallmark of civilization. This is the next step in our long-stalled evolution – to move beyond the limited amount of empathy that currently trickles through and is mostly stagnant in societies. The video also clearly links a lack of basic empathy to the undesirable things in societies.

The subtext of the video also states that in order to have empathy to the global, encompassing degree we need to, we must challenge our current beliefs and practices in terms of our institutions such as education, government and businesses.

Amazingly, today, before watching the video, the following thoughts came to me:

We want spirituality as long as it doesn't take too much dedication.
We want personal growth without having to change too much and as long as change leaves our current lives and relationships pretty much intact.
We want nature, but not too close, especially in our yards.
We want to claim intelligence, knowledge and smartness as long as we don't have to seek out and think out what we believe or reconsider beliefs from time to time. With this type of mindset, the world must have remained flat to many people for years after the correct awareness was achieved. In order to fight against recent human propensity to become stuck, we must consider new information, especially new information that is actually old.

We want to care, have empathy, but not too much, i.e. about Haiti as an earthquake victim but not as having the right to independence of governance and prosperity without outside determination to prevent the latter. Lastly, we want to care about the plight of Africans on the surface but not about the multi-country effort to plunder its riches below the surface including the disentombing of its sacred treasures in Egypt. Obviously it costs too much to care if Africans prosper from the resources in the land of their birth.

I suggest watching the video. I also suggest bracing to absorb the impact.

Food Fight: Fixing The Fight!

Food Fight #1

Who does not want to be healthier? Since no hands went up, the next step is a firm foundation of understanding. As always, this is about sharing things I've recently learned. By reviewing some very simplified but necessary basics, we will have a better chance of winning the food fight we're personally responsible for instigating every single day.

The food fight I'm talking about is happening inside our bodies. Food is responsible for a huge part of our health. Food is not just something to put into our mouths and swallow when hungry. In its purest sense, hunger is a reminder that the cells in our bodies need energy. Food is how the energy gets into the body.

Our stomachs are the primary energy replacement storage tanks. If the food in our stomachs does not contain energy, even though our stomachs are full, there won't be enough energy to go around to the trillions of cellular mouths we have to feed. Some cells will get fed, others won't and many will be partially fed. We have over 50 trillion cells in our bodies. They are all alive and need energy to do their job. When a cell does not get the energy it needs, it becomes tired, weak and does a poor job. Sometimes it dies. The moment any cell doesn't get the energy it needs, we are one cell closer to poor health. It's that simple and that serious.

Here's the definition of food: Food is good. “Good” means it is helpful and healthful. This means that in order for food to be good it must supply the energy our cells need. Whatever we eat that does not supply energy for our cells is not food. Call it what you want but not food. Even though it's FDA approved, edible and sold in stores, if it is not helpful and healthful to our cells, it's not food and it's not good. This is why we must focus on feeding our cells and not on filling our stomachs.

Don't believe me. Do a bit of internet research. For example, apple + benefits. Do the same for doughnut, soda, juice, broccoli, coffee, hot dog, nuts, hamburger, onion and anything we put in our mouths and swallow. Once we perform some quick searches, we will notice a common theme of two words being mentioned. If anyone knows now, please mention below. Go ahead and venture a guess, otherwise we'll discuss next week.

Food is manna from heaven. This energy was placed here to help us in every aspect of living. Food is here to assist the body, the spirit and the mind. Nothing says personal growth, nature and spirituality like food. Food is a direct, daily link to living fully.

Here's how I look at it for myself. Several times a day I have a choice to continue to ignore these basic facts and keep doing as usual. If what I put in my mouth and swallow only serves to fill the stomach, it serves me right if it kills the lummox.

Here's the forgiving part. Our cells are the original “will work for food” crew. Our cells will give us back more than the energy we give them. All we have to do is help them fight their way back by giving them energy.

BTW: Why is it, in food fights, people are always throwing soft, mushy, cooked things and desserts. Why isn't anyone hurling apples, oranges, brussel sprouts, carrots, etc. Because there ain't any around! How quickly the fight would be over if there were. If fact, imagine what a cell might say if it is holding some of this energy and a bacteria, virus or renegade cell approaches. “Don't start nunthin', won't be nunthin'.”

That's how it will be inside our bodies once we start giving it weapons of fruits, vegetables and whole grains. We can fix the fight in our favor.

Unemployment & Inflation

The ugliest American scandal of all is that the have-nots do not have a handle on what's really going on.

Part of personal growth is improving our understanding of things that affect us. With a better understanding we can reshape these beliefs and finally escape the associated fears. We've already fallen for shenanigans such as “weapons of mass destruction” and “too big to fail.” This time around we don't have to be fooled or frightened by how high the unemployment rate is or by the mention of inflation. Let's explore what those two things really mean.

Inflation starts occurring when the cost of things rise over time. What causes prices to increase? More money in our pockets does. The more money individuals/consumers have, the more things they demand. When demand exceeds supply, prices increase.

Unemployment reduces the disposable income of a population of individuals which reduces demand which in turn reduces inflation. In high unemployment economies, those who are employed, since they are now grateful to have a job, settle for less disposable income by agreeing to wage and benefit concessions and by not asking for raises while the costs of things around them continue to rise. More people spend less.

Not only does high consumer spending add to inflation but also high spending by the government. The government is already spending money on at least two wars and has been for years, now add to that stimulus spending upon stimulus spending upon stimulus spending.

Where did this stimulus money come from? They simply printed it as always. This adds to inflation. But inflation hasn't gotten worse as the government continues to spend more and more money for several reasons. Less spending by consumers due to unemployment, less spending by those who are employed due to uncertainty of how long their job will last and less spending by individuals and business because banks are not lending money.

The government helped reduce spending by individuals and businesses by allowing crucial economic areas such as banking and real estate to go unchecked, which caused the economy to become unstable and take several steps backwards. Adding to this was the continued behavior of Wall Street and insurers of financial products. Our government allowed enough unscrupulous behavior for businesses to fail in rapid, trickle down, domino succession then came to the rescue. This set the stage for rising unemployment and a nervous nation.

Let's jump to 2010. Government stimulus spending and war spending will remain in full force and effect which is why unemployment will remain high. Also, there will be fewer conflicting reports about the economic recovery. Once more individuals start believing what is already taking place, individual spending will increase and banks will lend more money. These two things will cause businesses to spend more. This is why unemployment must remain high. You can't have everyone doing better, at the same time everyone is believing, things are better. Why? Because they will spend more money which creates more demand for goods and services faster than they can be supplied which will increase prices and create inflation especially now since a lot of purchases have been delayed over the past two years.

The unemployed are the last ones to be reinvited to the party of consumption. In the meantime, the government appeases them with extension of benefits to keep them from becoming completely hopeless, desperate and dangerous which would create additional societal problems. At the same time, the government takes this opportunity to say we also need job creation measures and incentives so they can give businesses “too little to grow on their own” tax breaks, bailouts and handouts while most are left out. This is what happens to those “too asleep to suspect anything.” If we fail to understand what's really going we will always have to settle for a smidgen compared to the smörgÃ¥sbord others are invited to partake. On a related note, Congress has voted to not give seniors a cost of living increase in their social security but are considering giving them $250 next year. They must be “too old to need much.”

Finally, let's revisit the automatic, underlying thought we have when we hear the words, “high unemployment” or “rising unemployment.”

If we think those words mean there are no jobs, we are wrong. There are thousands upon thousands of advertised and open positions and more that are not. Jobs are not hard to find.

What's difficult is the lengthy hiring process that is antiquated, highly inefficient and filled with bottlenecks. Another reason unemployment remains high is many employers don't want to hire too quickly because they can temporarily get existing workers to pick up the slack while saving the cost of a new employee. The third part of the problem is employed people seeking jobs. It's their right but it slows down the timeframe for some unemployed people to become employed if the already employed person gets the job. This creates another open position and the process starts again. The last thing that makes the job outlook seem worse than it is, is that many job seekers are not willing to work anywhere doing anything for any pay which is their prerogative. It takes time for all these things to sort themselves out.

Now as the events in the economy continue to play out, we should be able to make better assessments since we know a little more about the script. We already knew who most of the players and actors were. It's up to us to decide if we want to continue to be used as extras or have a more significant role in the next episode of this delightful democratic drama.

Father May I Start Over In 2009?

As children, we used to play a game called “Father (Mother) May I.” The name changed depending on whether a boy or girl was in charge. The game consisted of at least three players: two or more “children” and one “father” We would take turns asking if we could take baby steps or giant steps to reach the place where the father was. It was up to that person to grant the request. If we failed to begin a request with “Father May I,” we would lose a turn; however if we did ask correctly, more times than not, the request would be granted. Sometimes we were granted fewer steps or additional steps. Anyone caught moving when they weren't supposed to or taking more steps than granted would have to start over.

Even at that age, I wondered why anyone would ask for baby steps when they could ask for giant steps. I also wondered why anyone would ask for one giant step when they could ask for any number. The only thing that made sense was taking steps without permission. We wanted to win and there could only be one winner. That's what it took under those odds and those stakes.

Thankfully life is not a game, although if we are not attentive, we could easily end up playing around, fooling around or messing around with our lives (been there, done that and ain't trying to go back). Our saving grace is realizing we have been moving out of turn with our true selves and feel the need to start over somewhere, some way, somehow. This is a good thing because it is always our turn. We can take the next step – baby step or giant step right now. We don't have to wait.

We don't have to wait for anyone else to get their steps granted first. We're not competing with anyone so the size and amount of steps and the time it takes are for each person to measure against their own standards. We don't have to ask for permission. We don't even have to wait until retirement. We do not have to wait for a new calendar year. Many who had to start over in the children's game did so immediately and many of those same children won the game.

What steps am I wiling to take when I'm trying to reach the place I should be? What steps am I willing to take when my life is at stake, when living is the prize and when my life is the main objective?

everyone can win
without giving in
for the meeting of ends
since dreams don't depend
on family, friends
or the adulation of men
it's wise to start over again
now is the time to begin

There are two months left in 2009 but only two motions, an inhale and exhale, until I can take a step to start over in some aspect of my life. My higher power granted me lifelong permission at birth and renews it every second of every day. How about yours?

Since I am now plenty old enough to have learned this, when I continue to hesitate, my Father says, "Please child, go ahead already!"

Personal Growth: Michelle Obama's Garden

Michelle Obama First Mama
Why does your garden grow?
To remind us what's worthwhile
And the impact of our lifestyles
Returning to what we used to know

It's wise for Michelle Obama to have an edible garden at home. Understanding what it takes to keep us alive by understanding what it takes to keep plants alive is crucial to the continued viability of the human race. This is the real way to achieve security – reconnecting to the basic, sustaining things in this life. We cannot be completely connected to each other unless we are connected to nature since nature is the common denominator.

It's smart for Michelle Obama to show us that a garden bigger than many living spaces, cost under $200 plus a free investment in exercise. I know I spend over $200 per year on fruit, vegetables and herbs I could grow a little more of myself. I guarantee you, once you get going and see how much easier, cheaper, tastier, healthier and rewarding gardening is, you will be forever changed for the better.

Gardening indoors or outdoors is about enjoying, growing, caring, nurturing, understanding, learning and experimenting. There are no masters or experts. Gardeners and farmers control very little and only influence a few things so we can plant without the pressure of perfection.

Growing something is not an exercise in getting it right but in not getting it wrong. Our focus should be on not harming, destroying or disrupting the natural processes. Once we become aware of our impact and imprint on the soil, environment and every living species, eating and planting become more about a privilege and partnerships.

We will no longer lament the rain or lightening. We won't care whether it's the heat or the humidity, just that both are present. We will reuse containers, cardboard, wood, leaves and grass clippings like crazy. Mulch and compost will become the new checking and savings accounts. We'll inadvertently become a mini-ecologist/biologist and learn to welcome more than birds because you'll understand that biodiversity is in everyone's favor. Beyond bees we'll begin to appreciate the importance of flies and midges. Our awareness will increase through germination, respiration, differentiation, pollination and maturation. We'll become intimate with photosynthesis and it's relationship to digestion. Everything that stimulates roots to shoots to fruits will also fascinate us. We will ultimately become a part of the process of growing soil and embracing the ecosystem. Gardening really is about learning and sharing from the ground level to the spiritual level.

Just as enjoyable as the food are the rich rewards of an environment with increased diversity. Yesterday I saw a brown and yellow hummingbird poking around in the stylish purple and yellow flowers of the Wild Columbine. Later on a Silver-Spotted Skipper stopped by. As kids we called them police butterflies. Perhaps it was searching for the tangerine Monarch that flitted through this morning casing the bounty of blossoms that are just a few weeks away.

Layer upon layer of interdependency is what it takes for us to be fed yet growing food at home is something we can easily achieve. Hopefully we will follow the leader.
