The psychology of people flows from the history and experience of that people just as the psychology of the individual flows from the individual's unique history and experience. If we are to understand the psychology of ourselves as a people and to understand our children, then we must understand the history and experience that has generated that psychology. Since psychology to a significant degree is generated by history and experience, why then do we expect our psychology to be the same as that of the psychology of other people who have a very different history and experience? We would not expect that no more than we would expect the psychology of another individual to be the same as our own individual psychology since as individuals, we have different histories and experiences.Knowing Our Children By Knowing Psychology
It becomes very important we get to know ourselves as people which means getting to know our history and our culture so we can come to know our children. We must approach them based on their psychology (history and experiences as an individual) and simultaneously based on our psychology (history and experiences as a people). Black children are intellectually born with a head start and if we took advantage of their natural head start we would not have to have artificial head start programs. Because we are unaware of the natural head start our children have, we overlook it. We don't stimulate it and don't match it with experience which causes us to have to compensate for this absence of nutrition later on.If we understand group and individual psychology to begin with, we can accelerate and maintain the God -given intelligence in our children.*Mostly quoted, portions paraphrased.
