The phrase “you have the gall” is likely a later form of “you have the gaul” meaning:

1. you have the original first true bona fide authentic basis or origin and understanding that gives you confidence, assurance, courage, boldness, certainty in regards to thinking and behavior overall or pertaining to one or more topics.
This meaning is in keeping with many other terms and phrases originating outside Africa but initially referred to Africa and/or Africans or ultimately does so.
Similar phrases indicate “the best”, authentic, original such as Damascus steel, Real McCoy and Semper aliquid novi Africam adferre.
Like others who migrated from Africa, the Gaul/Gall/Gael retained a lot of what came out of the Nile Valley and Northern Africa, especially Mauretania (Moors). Being mariner seafarers, they likely went back and forth, even after longer periods of separation.

2. A second meaning could also be the first meaning. Not only had Gaul been remembered as a homeland and source knowledge in the manner Egypt was viewed, this continued when the Moors updated the lands now called France and Spain and brought them out of the Dark Ages, since they were lagging way behind in newly acquired knowledge from Africa. Despite bad information limiting the Dark Ages to the common era period called Medieval and Middle Ages, Europe and other places were in earlier Dark Ages. Another piece of evidence is the fact that many Europeans, including those now touted as great and credited with inventions and discoveries, went to Africa to study (learn those inventions and discoveries).
Somewhere between the 15th and 19th centuries CE, Britain and England as the head honchos of their island, continued to want to establish a name for themselves and likely pushed against France, Spain, Mauretania, Egypt and elsewhere in Africa as being the source of knowledge since this area of the Gauls was a source of knowledge since the Moors brought them out of another Dark Age. One method of intellectual distancing and dissonance (selective memory, thus defective memory, thus a truth enemy) was to use a phrase meant to be demeaning such as “you have the Gaul.” This of course turned the phrase upside down and on its head to mean the opposite of its original. To make this so, the statement was now said with an air of disgust, indignation and incredulity.
Imagine how the phrase “you have the nerve” could be said twice using the same words but changing voice inflection. One way would convey admiration and another way would convey anger and annoyance.

3. Nowadays the phrase, “you have the gaul”, like most understandings, has been further bastardized bitchified to mean having confidence without having the correct or legitimate basis, thus having arrogance (error enhanced), rudeness, indecency, lack of civility.
You have the belief in something that makes you think it's okay to say and do whatever you want without reprisal.

4. Since most people are believers rather than knowers, it will come as a surprise that “you have the gall” does not have anything initially or primarily to do with the gall bladder, liver or bile.

Deeper Into It Where The Roots Spread

“You have the Gaul” most likely originated in Britain, England, France or Spain. It comes from the same island mindset that claims to be Scot free, something which would not be necessary to claim if you were always Scot-free.
You have the Gaul is first an attempt to honor ancestors and sources and then later to dishonor them. This switch comes from the bad seed child mindset who wants to establish self as a knower, authority, expert and originator, but not give any credit to parentage and other kinship contributions. Despite our short attention span and memory retention, we should be able to notice this same thinking and behavior repeated by Europeans in the USA and in the guise of White semite Jews claiming to be originals and being in “the holy land”. There are many other examples of love turned hate and truth turned lies, perpetrated by recent groups of people in the past two thousand years alone. One manifestation causes most groups of people worldwide, except Africans and Blacks, to always brand things with their group or country name, thus accumulate false additions to self-worth. It's like people who frequently need to state their religion or state they are spiritual or state their country of origin or mention and tie something to the word “culture” or “tradition”, as if any of this validates their existence. These people live, eat and breathe faked funk which is why a great deal of their logic is junk food for the soul, making them happily miserable due to how much effort it takes to be a repeat pretender.

All this foolish logic is like claiming it's possible to start a tree from a branch that came into existence of itself in thin air, and then that branch rooted itself in the same air and grew and flourished as a tree of knowledge of life and existence.
All this is bit by bit by byte by blow of psychological warfare to mold and mold believer beliefs because , in the absence of knowledge of self and all else, spirit included, then belief is the next most powerful thing. On this rock I will build my church and country.

“You have the Gaul” is something specific pertaining to a group of people that has been watered down to pertain to all people that has been generalized and diminished to mean you have the nerve and has been further discombobulated to mean you have the balls. However, even though “you have the balls” is a perversion in the masculine sense, it is often used as a statement of admiration. This then is a slight coming back around, a sliver of unaware awakening.
The process and series of changes from an original form to a desecrated form doesn't take long.
For example, we can see how quickly the first meaning of “you have the gaul” became enlightenment, that supposedly started in Europe in the 1600's CE and became a blinding notion of whiteness as enlightenment which then claimed their version to be the true enlightenment (being lit and guided by inner light of spirit and knowledge). Then this becomes, without status quo European assistance, the awakening to truths outside of self, which then becomes black history and other knowledge reclamation restorations which then becomes many weak emotional based revolutions, which then becomes a mental-spiritual revolution rewrote as “woke” (as used by black folk. simply put, becoming hip to the situation), which then immediately, due the fear of this form of woke, using fear as the center spinning wheel that connects all spokes, as always, becomes the okie doke of woke and wokesim as totally perverted through disgusting discourse and inbred intercourse as used by white folks and their wannabes who are terrified at facing the tide whose time has arrived and also terrified at the thought of having their “eyes” opened wide so they can see that their current truths are the ghosts of lies. However, unlike Ebeneezer Scrooge, sleep folks refuse to wake up and change, instead choose to remain like Brom Bones, Ichabod Crane, Peter Vanderdonk, Rip Van Winkle, Brer Fox, Elmer Fudd, Wile E. Coyote, Daffy Duck, Humpty Dumpty and others who are determined to remain ignorant, fools, idiots and stupid.

Another similar like-minded metaphor is the miller who sold out his daughter who then had to sell out her child all because the miller suffered from mental illness delusions of grandeur syndrome and would tell any lie to maintain that delicious dream of self-esteem. Plus the daughter chose to go along with the broken logic of the parent. This captures most types of Rumplestiltskin susceptible people all around the world enticed by lies, thus they buy, sell, tell and trade lies to their children while they reject the Gaul descendants they need, but still want to be somebody they are not, while simultaneously surreptitiously suck on Gaul leaves, are easily willing to trade soul (self) preservation to escape genetic annihilation (healthy re-integration) and for wealth, fame and what nots, and then try to disparage others as have nots, denigrations that hit a sore spot because we forgot have nots are a good thing when it comes to admonitions to Maat and Adonai Tzva'ot.
