This is a follow-up to the previous two messages.
Sometimes our lingo is too fancy for our own britches to hold logic stitches.The terms Adjacency and Allyship have been, and still are, being used to express the difference between a fiend and a friend.
According to a summary of information found at, University of Wisconsin-Madison and toronto.ca:
Adjacency refers to being near or connected to a marginalized group without actively supporting or advocating for them, while allyship involves taking action to support and stand up for marginalized communities. Allyship requires a commitment to challenge injustices and use one's privilege to help create a more equitable society.This definition is problematic by including the word marginalized. Adjacency applies to any two groups.
The second problem is equating Allyship with Friendship.
I say it this way. Adjacency is not Allyship is not Friendship is not Kinship.
There can be no Kinship if Skinship causes you to identify differently and swear by that identity as a different origin.Thus Kinship is Originship. This is maligned and misaligned by Skinship which breaks all the bonds of Friendship, thus, any agreement on, and cooperation on, anything, can only be temporary and imbalanced Allyships and Adjacencies.
Black people, stop allowing yourself to become complacent by the first sign of anything Adjacent to us. For Ages now, we have been on our own.
This is fine because, it was the best of times for Black People when there was mutual respect of Kinship with other Black people by any name. It has always been the worst of times when this was absent. In the past Age, this division of Kinship has been attacked by all groups who united their Kinship based on anything and any name that Does Not, “make them” say they are Black People at the taproot. This estranged logic is what always causes Black People to be treated as various forms of “strange fruit.”
Adjacency is Fiend-Ship.
Allyship is Closer Fiend-Ship.
Friendship, Kinship and Originship are as equal as the Holy Trinity.
