Long before the planned epidemic using Sars-CoV-2 as the boogey man, we already knew of the sensibility of thinking twice and thinking three times by getting a second and third opinion. These second and third opinions should each be independent of the other. Independent means using a sufficiently different perspective and/or thought process.However we readily set aside, drop, let go of and lose sight of thinking twice and thinking three times when we are in a panic based on fear. We are desperate to regain control by making a quick decision based on a truncated deformed thought process.
For instance, a second opinion is NOT asking a doctor, then asking the assistant in the room.A second opinion cannot be had from among the police, internal affairs, police union, mayor and state's attorney.
Likewise, listening to government cronies, media, their experts and university studies is like listening to the same person wearing a different outfit. They are all part of the same mindset and spiritset family of institutions that all repeat what the other has said.
As already said, a second opinion is dangerous in misleading us unless it comes from enough of a different perspective and context and uses some different information.
When it comes to something critically important in life, going with a first opinion corroborated by the same second opinion, makes all that follows, a compounding of error and confirmation bias and reliance on sunken costs (miseducation from all sources).
