Multiple Subjects, Languages & Ways
A basic inhibitor of knowledge is to approach knowledge as a non-Initiate to knowledge of self. Meaning and understanding are also elusive if you only understand one language while knowledge is being spoken in multiple languages, each language representing a way of knowing, each way representing part of the whole."A race of people is like an individual man; until it uses its own talent, takes pride in its own history, expresses its own culture [and] affirms its own selfhood, it can never fulfill itself." - - Malcolm X
Formula To Dysfunction Families & Individuals For Generations
All of the above causes and effects match what a Willie Lynch initiate said:
"...to master a human being, no matter what his race or color, all you need to do is to strip him of his identity, his land, the strength of his culture, and the memory of his Ancestors." (1)It is important not to overlook the entire truth of this statement. This tactic has been and is still being used against all people. Both of the quotes above boil down to knowledge of self. This is why knowledge of self must be restored. It is the cure. That which a person does not know, a person cannot esteem. A person who does not know self cannot have self-esteem in an amount sufficient to overcome the onslaught aimed at erasing knowledge of self.
Focus On Self To Protest Injustice
Since culture emerges out of knowledge of self and knowledge of self emerges out of culture, there must be a simultaneous focus on knowledge of self in order to change society. Know yourself is the main barometer, the main context and the main point of reference. This is true because through the process to know yourself you grow to develop a comprehensive barometer, comprehensive context and comprehensive point of reference. If we simply started by knowing we are African, we would then know the African Utamawazo is the one to follow. Africans educated the world and had to know self in order to do so. This can be restored quickly through self-study.(1) Brewer, Rose PhD, Associate Professor, African "American" [quotes added later]Studies, University of Minnesota, Minnepolis, MN, "Teaching and Critical Thinking: Implications for African "American"[quotes added later] Studies",http://www.ahc.umn.edu/bioethics/afrgen/html/TeachingandCriticalThinking.html , accessed 6/9/13.
