Citizens Are The Government
Public and private is a false dichotomy.A country's public government is an extension, function and byproduct of its private citizens. The private life, logic, thinking and behavior of a country's citizens is always on public display through the country's laws and institutions. This is why most, if not all governments worldwide, are corrupt. The logic of the masses of citizens is corrupt. This corruption of logic is programmed into us and continuously replenished and reinforced. This corrupt logic is our surface logic that sits atop the logic of many previous generations and on top of the accurate logic of ecosystem layers. This is why the Ancients said "know yourself." Our deeper logic constantly informs us how to do better; however we currently tend to choose the surface layer of disconnected logic that supports us not changing.
We don't want to change but we want our governments to change. That logic is the same as taking the long way around. It is the same as trying to change the finished product without changing the components, processes, systems or mix. Therefore the way to change a corrupt government is to change the corrupt logic in enough of its citizens. Any other approach is the long way around to the 180 side. Likewise then, African Unity can only be achieved by changing the disunited logic in enough of its citizens worldwide. The healthy form of unity, and other types of change, is a byproduct of people doing, step by step, what they already know is a better form of behavior and thinking. This starts within ourselves in taking steps to be united in mind, body, emotion and spirit. This is what "know yourself" is about. Through the process of knowledge of self comes unity within and unity without. Each person has a different path to follow to bring them to greater unity within self and greater unity with others. Let's take a more specific example: a united African passport.
Instead of waiting on all the governments to agree on this via the African Union, citizens can begin referring to themselves as African first and putting their country names aside. Treat each other the same no matter country of recent origin. I repeat: It might seem like governments are the shortest route to achieving change, but they are actually the long way around. Why? Because governments can't change until enough of the people change. Leadership can't change until enough of the people change.
If you can't hang, you can't combine enough to change.Changing self is the shortest route to seeing the effects of your change on all else. I repeat: We can immediately begin doing more of the better we already know should be done. Simultaneously we can continue maturing in knowledge of self. This then will inform future steps. In other words, it is not necessary to understand how to achieve the end result of desired change. It is only necessary to understand the step needed right now. The next step will reveal itself to those who are continuously seeking. In other words, it is not necessary to gain any new understandings at this very moment. You know enough right now to at least be able to take one step towards improvement. Take it and keep repeating it and your momentum will move you into another space of logic that will reveal the next step.
The shortest route to change is the distance between the thought of the next step and the behavior of the next step.
