Salary Caps are a form of minimum wage and maximum wage.It is a minimum wage for some players and maximum wage for other players.
Salary caps favor owners.
Of course it does, salary is an expense and who doesn't want to cap expenses, while at the same time having no cap on revenue, prices, profits?
Like most topics, sports channels like ESPN, tiptoe around topics.
They never plainly say that Salary Caps are unfair even if player unions agree to it.Salary Caps cause players to look at each other as to who is blowing up and eating up the cap, thus limiting their earning potential and limiting what players can be brought in.
This focus should be on the owners who make money hundreds of ways with their sports teams.
A salary cap creates a false notion that there is only so much a sports team can afford to pay players. Are any other salaries capped? Are any other expenses capped? Are perks and gratuities capped?
Once again, a Salary Cap is ridiculous in that it caps how much can be paid to an athlete while not limiting how much can be made off that athlete. Too much of the abnormal has become normal.Athletes should demand that salary caps be removed and let market forces prevail, or all salaries paid by sports teams be capped and all profits going to owners be capped with the rest being shared.
We are beyond the Giri So level of awareness, thus no longer gullible enough to believe that without salary caps, salaries are not being capped. Collusions are always taking place. On A Related Note
Hell, let's put a cap on ticket prices, hot dogs, beer, parking, souvenirs, ad prices and so on. I've been to several pro sports games and you better believe it will cost you just as much as going to an expensive restaurant, especially when you factor in one or more additional people such as another adult and kids; however, at least at the restaurant, you know you'll always have a good experience and won't have to spend hours getting in and out. Attending professional sports games is okay, but it's too expensive overall and an all day exhausting affair, and if you don't plan for the weather, shame on you. It's not as rewarding as what you imagine when you watch on TV and haven't been to a game. It's much more rewarding and affordable to spend your money on a large screen TV, get yourself the kind of food you like to eat, and chill at home without having to deal with long lines and nasty ass bathrooms. And furthermore, if you can't afford to get seats close to the playing field, to me, it's not worth it to watch the game on large screen monitors. I now feel the same way about music concerts. Pay for the best seats and best package or else save your money for something else.
