Because accidents are tragic, even if no one dies, many us speak about the good parts of the accident and the person but fail to learn from the bad parts of both, or at least, examine the parts that potentially contributed to the accident and apply them as a self-teachable moment.Nothing in this world protects you from natural law. Not riches, not weapons, not lying. Not racism. Not denial. Not fame, Not adulation. Not position power. Not nothing.
Kobe Bryant and his pilot made a series of judgment errors. They each overestimated the importance and abilities of each other. What we can learn is leave on time or earlier than necessary, especially when conditions are less than ideal, especially weather conditions. If anything happens that causes you to leave late or delays you in route, do not try to make up time by driving faster or taking any other shortcut. In some instances, don't leave at all. It is better to arrive late than not at all. Life will go on if you are late and life will go on if you are dead or injured. Get there safely, then learn and adjust the next time. Anyone traveling in a vehicle has the right to speak up when unsafe behavior is taking place.Tiger Woods was traveling 87mph in a 45mph zone. We should acknowledge his comeback, but we should also emphasize that the car wreck didn't need to happen and was totally in his control. The police said Tiger pressed the wrong pedal. This seems unlikely. If he was traveling the speed limit of 45, then how long does it take after supposedly pressing the wrong pedal to realize you are pressing the accelerator and not the brakes? It is more likely Woods was on his phone and/or intoxicated or tired or in some serious deep thought. https://www.motortrend.com/features/tiger-woods-crash-investigation/
Dwayne Haskins. Do not get out of your car on any road, especially a busy road with fast moving traffic unless you have plenty of room to pull over and you are looking behind you before you open the door to make sure there are no cars approaching in the lane beside you. Then, move quickly to the front, back or opposite side of the car. When possible, exit and enter on the passenger side. And for God's sake don't try to cross any road without making sure you have twice as much time as you think you need to make it safely across. This includes making left hand turns in a vehicle or entering a road from a side street or crossing a road from a side street.Quit thinking you can behave the way people do in television shows and movies.
None of this is really about what I don't like. It's about what's good for humanity that keeps us conscious of our superhumanity power and vulnerabilities.
