Pretenders cannot keep up the charade for more than 3 to 18 months. Not even unintentional pretenders. The actual length is determined by how much interaction you have with them. The more frequent the interaction, the less of a need there is to continue the charade because after being around a pretender for a length of time, and you are still in the relationship, then the pretender knows you are convinced, thus no need to pretend, be guarded or cautious because, no matter what, you will believe what they continue to tell you based on the false hopes of what they initially showed. This is what happened to the Africans in North America when white pillaging pilgrims came. We still haven't learned our lesson because we keep hope alive and giving thanksgiving, honoring their way of living based on deceptive friendship.
