Experts unlock key to photosynthesis, a find that could help us meet food security demands
So much can be said about this article and its context but we only have space and time to deal with a few.
1. The article says: “Scientists have solved the structure of one of the key components of photosynthesis, a discovery that could lead to photosynthesis being 'redesigned' to achieve higher yields and meet urgent food security needs.”
I say, what, where and why are there urgent food security needs?
We are told we are running out of food and the population is growing way too fast.
We are not told how much food we waste.
We are not told there is plenty of land in all societies whereby enough food can be produced.
We are not told that requires using all of the land our houses and buildings are on. Using the land we call parks. Using the land we call parkways.
We are not told we need to redefine how we design societies so that food production is a priority.
We are not told that all the land the government somehow owns, can be converted into food production.
We are not told that “food insecurity” exists due to logic that is insecure.
2. The article says: "Previous studies have shown that by manipulating the levels of this complex we can grow bigger and better plants. With the new insights we have obtained from our structure we can hope to rationally redesign photosynthesis in crop plants to achieve the higher yields we urgently need to sustain a projected global population of 9-10 billion by 2050".
I say, how mad scientist-like is it, for a human to think they can create a better human?
How mad scientist-like is it, for a human to think they can reproduce a human equal to or greater than the female womb?
How mad scientist-like is it, for a human to think they can “grow bigger and better plants” than nature itself, than God, than the process of photosynthesis?
As if somehow, God is operating inefficiently and has not considered “enhancing” or “turbo-charging” the photosynthesis process or has not figured it out. But wait, there's some humans, likely European white albino psycho-sociopath racists, who think they have the magic key to photosynthesis to alleviate food insecurity.
3. This logic from these scientists, these businesses, these universities, these governments, these people is the same kind of logic that is telling us about climate change as if they are the beginning and end of climate change, the cause and the effect.
Yes we gotta pay attention to and adjust for climate change; however, only in the African-centered way, which is optimal theory.
